I wrote a heap usage command line monitor hmon which can monitor libc's malloc statistics data.
It will be very useful when IDE can't be used or you don't want to use IDE, I didn't read how IDE implemented its malloc
 information but I can guess.
source is in qfuse->trunk->utils->h->hmon
help yourself.
