HP Laserjet P1606dn allways prints to pages
Dear QNX community,

i test the printer Hp Laserjet P1606dn and it allway print to pages. The first page is the page i want to print and on
the second one. There is allways:
H<username>
    Proot
        Jstdin
             C<username>
                  Lroot
                       fdfA000xxxx (printfile)
                             UdfA000xxxx (printfille)
                                                   N

I testet it wit Pp.pc,l phs_to_pcl und on our normal filter Pp.ps. I also testet is with older version of lpsrvr, lpd,
lpr. Allways the same result.

Kindly regards

Hans

Hi Hans,

Unfortunately, I do not have HP Laserjet P1606dn to reproduce and test this issue. But this page looks like page banner.
Try to disable page banner using printer's Embedded Web Server.

Respectfully,
Oleg

Re: HP Laserjet P1606dn allways prints to pages
Hi Oleg,

thank you for your answer.

This was my idea soome days ago, but I can not find anything like page banners in Embedded Web server of printer.
Everything it looks to make problems e.g duplex and so on are disabled. There is really nothing i can find

Kindly regards

Hans
Re: HP Laserjet P1606dn allways prints to pages
Hi Hans,

Sorry for the delay with my answer. Unfortunately, we do not have P1606 and we can't reproduce this issue on available
printers. Can you try the following config to test the printer. Create /etc/printcap file:

hpps:\
:lp=9100@192.168.1.1:rm=192.168.1.1:\
:sd=/usr/spool/output/hpps:\
:lf=/usr/adm/lpd-errs:\
:mx#0:

where 'hpps' is printer's name, 192.168.1.1 is printer's IP. For usb printer launch devu-prn and change the following
line in /etc/printcap:

lp=/dev/usbpar0

Launch following commands:

# lpd -l
# lpr -Phpps /tmp/text/txt (print text file)
# lprq -Phpps (show printer's queue)

Send me output the last command.

Respectfully,
Oleg

Re: HP Laserjet P1606dn allways prints to pages
Hello Oleg,

thank you for reply. i will test it later. After we had the same problem with another HP Laserjet we searched in
Internet and found some posts that HP Printer generally print a seperator page if ldp is printing (do not find the link
yet). Most of the printers have an advanced setting to disable seperator pages but not all and our customer have two
printers where you can't disable this "feature".

Kindly regards

Hans

Re: HP Laserjet P1606dn allways prints to pages
Hello Oleg,,

I tried your recommended settings but it doesent work. Here are my output from lprq -PDeskjet
Rank Owner Job Files Total Size
1st root 2 print.txt 16 bytes

connection to 10.0.0.67 is down

the printer send a reply to ping and old settings work with banner page

know other outputs The job hangs up in the queue
Here is my printcap

# // printcap for network printing with ethernet2USB printserver
# //
# // 15.12.04 Hue

Deskjet:\
	:lp=:9100@10.0.0.67\
	:rm=10.0.0.67:\
#	:rp=usb1:\
	:sd=/ram/tmp:\
	:lf=/usr/adm/lpd-errs:\
	:mx#0:

Kindly recards
Re: HP Laserjet P1606dn allways prints to pages
Hi Hans,

Please provide additional information to analyze the issue:

1. Both /etc/printcaps files (that works and that based on my example).

2. Output of following commands (for both case with working and with non-working configuration):

# sin arg
# lprc status
# ping <printer_IP>
# lprq -P<printer_name>

3. Command line used to start lpd.

4. Command or description how you send files to print.

Respectfully,
Oleg
