Forum Topic - QNX 4.25 on Dual Intel Xeon Processors: (6 Items)

QNX 4.25 on Dual Intel Xeon Processors
We are working on a project with customer and with their hardware upgrade request, we are proposing them Dual Intel Xeon
 processor based systems (i.e. 2x E5620).

Also, system has Intel 82576 Dual-Port Gigabit Ethernet controller and Intel 5520 chipset.

Please let me know if you think this hardware configuration would be any issues.

Thanks,

   - Mihir

The 82576 gigabit controller is supported, but I cannot comment on the
rest. The output of 'show_pci -v' would help us to determine whether we
support the chipset or not.

Re: QNX 4.25 on Dual Intel Xeon Processors
How about Dual 64bit Xeon Procs?

All threads I saw so far were for either desktop class processors or Atom. I will get back with lspci on one of the
boards I have here.

Thanks.
Re: QNX 4.25 on Dual Intel Xeon Processors
QNX4 is only uni-processor, so a dual Xeon id an overkill!

Re: QNX 4.25 on Dual Intel Xeon Processors
Attached is a list of my PCI devices from one of the similar systems.

Is QNX 4.25 based on BSD 4.x? How many max. processor IDs do you think QNX 4.25 can handle without issues?

Any issues running on a non-i386 platform?

Thanks.

Re: QNX 4.25 on Dual Intel Xeon Processors
As I said before, QNX4 doesn't support SMP and it only runs on x86
machines. If you want to run on non-x86 systems, you will need QNX 6.5.0
which also has SMP. QNX should run on this machine, but I'm not sure
whether the graphics and USB devices are currently supported.
