hardware support for QNX4
Is there a list of current hardware supported by the RTOS v4? I know of the current hardware list but it is not up to
date is it?

Is there any support for intel i3/i5/i7 series CPU?

I am currently using a IEI PICMG 1.0 series CPU board. Model number ROCKY-3786-RS-R41. I use a PIII 850 CPU and for
several years it has been working without incident. I was just notified of its EOL. I am desperate for a suitable
replacement but it seems every new board has chip-sets that are not supported by QNX4.

Unfortunately my company does not have the funds to explore the QNX6 package so I must keep the QNX4 version running.
What to do??!!

Any help would be great! Thanks

Nick
Re: hardware support for QNX4
Hello,

we use Advantech PCA-6194 in our refurbished systems. It's working well (though we don't use Photon, neither QWindows).

Re: hardware support for QNX4
Hi Nicholas,

QNX4 works fine on most Intel i3/i5/i7 systems but uses only one core.

If you are planing to upgrade your system you can look at boards with
Intel i3/i5/i7 CPUs but with following recommendations:
 - IDE compatible or AHCI mode in BIOS;
 - onboard Intel network controller;
 - [8086:0042] - Intel HD Graphics controller;

On Latest Software Updates wiki page you can find latest drivers:
http://community.qnx.com/sf/wiki/do/viewPage/projects.qnx4/wiki/LatestSoftwareUpdates

For example:
 - Pg.intelhd is a new QNX4 driver for Intel HD Graphics (Intel GMA HD)
which is integrated in the Intel Core i3/i5 and some Core i7.
 - Net.e1000 - supports latest Intel network controllers
 - Fsys.ahci - new driver for AHCI SATA interface

Please keep in mind that these drivers are not included to the current
QNX4 Product Suite 2011 and you have to download and run them manually.

Regards,
Pavel

Re: hardware support for QNX4
Pavel, Thank you for your quick response.

Can I assume that backward compatibility with Core 2 Quad/Duo is fine with the usage of the icore?

I am looking at this board from IEI. I do not see anything about AHCI with in the user manual so could I assume that it
is not within the BIOS. I will be using ATA FLASH HDD from Synrotech on the IDE ports.

We do use the Phindows/Photon enviroments within our application.

Re: hardware support for QNX4
Hi Nicholas,

QNX4 works on Core2 Quad/Duo systems too.
In my opinion WSB-G41A is a good choice for QNX4. ATA HDD, network, USB
should work with drivers from the Product suite CD. Latest driver
Pg.i830 has support for the Intel G41 Graphical Controller.

But to be sure, I would recommend you to test this board before purchase.

Pavel

Re: hardware support for QNX4
Thanks again Pavel. I will let you know how it performs in our application.

Does qnx4 support network card Realtek® 8111E?
Re: hardware support for QNX4
Hi Dmitry,

This controller should be supported by Net.rtl8169.

Re: hardware support for QNX4
We have a problems with motherboard on z68 chipset(asus p8z68-v pro).Usb devices freezes on start io-usb or simple on
attaching to PC.whether has Qnx fully support for z68 based motherboards?
Re: hardware support for QNX4
Hi Dmitry,

We haven't tested boards that are based on the Intel z68 chipset.

As for your Asus P8Z68-V board it seems that you've faced interrupt
sharing problem. Please provide additional information about your
system: sin ir and show_pci -v.
Also what version of the USB stack you are using?

Pavel

Re: hardware support for QNX4
I don't know what version usb stack are used, but install it from latest update-archive QNX425-USB-20120214.tar.gz
additional information from system in attachment.Tranks.

Re: hardware support for QNX4
Dmitry,

Only the Fsys.ahci driver shares interrupt with usb and it seems that on
this configuration it works incorrectly. This driver is experimental.
If it is possible, use Fsys.atapi instead of Fsys.ahci.

Pavel

1)In case using Fsys.atapi shutdown with SIGSEGV.will wait new drivers
2)Catch another problem on onboard network intel card:qnx don't determine MAC address of lan card(ifconfig show only 00:
00:00:00:00:00)->Network don't work.
3)What orientired date the relise new drivers?

Re: hardware support for QNX4
Hi Dmitry,

Please provide Vendor ID and Device ID of your integrated controller.
Have you tried to set MAC manually by -m option (e.g. Net.e1000
-m001122334455)?

We are planning to update the Fsys.ahci driver. But we have to find
hardware to reproduce your issue.

Regards,
Pavel

Vendor ID = 8086h
Device ID = 1503h
I tried ,ps ax|grep Net.e1000 show what it running with key -mMACdigits, but ifconfig show empty MAC of lan card

1 question:may you tell me motherboard model which properly work on qnx4(i3/i5/i7,lan,usb)?

Re: hardware support for QNX4
Hi Nicolas,

were you able to get WSB G41A board to work in your application?

I am using the same board in my system with QNX6.3.0. I can not get the on board network drivers to work. intel 82583V.

Does QNX have updated intel network drivers for this specific chipset?
RE: hardware support for QNX4
Barry,

Yes we were successful in getting the WSB G41A to work in our systems. However we are using QNX 4.25. We are using the
Net.e1000 driver if that is any help to you.
