Determine the arrangement of the Infrastructure nodes

Small Lab Management Domain

In this scenario, the small Lab Management Domain consists of less than 50 Client nodes (physical or virtual or in combination). This configuration would require:

• 1 Lab Management Manager (a physical node)
• 1 Primary Active Directory (a virtual image that deploys on the Lab Management Manager)
• Optionally, you could also put the Solaris SPARC Bootserver, if used, on the Lab Management Manager

Many Lab Management Domains do not require high-availability, and some downtime would be acceptable if an Infrastructure node suffered a failure and was no longer available. However, if you have ten Client nodes, for example, which are performing a service that requires redundancy, then you should consider implementing the configuration for a large Lab Management Domain.

Large Lab Management Domain

In this scenario, a large Lab Management Domain or a small Lab Management Domain that requires redundancy would adopt this configuration:

• 1 Lab Management Manager (a physical node) -- containing the Secondary Active Directory
• 1 Aggregate Host Server (a physical node) -- containing the Primary Active Directory and the optional Solaris SPARC Bootserver
• 1 Primary Active Directory Server--on the second physical host
• 1 Aggregate Host Server--to build in more reliability
• 1 Solaris SPARC Bootserver (optional)--to reside on the Aggregate Host Server to lessen the load on the Lab Management Manager
