We downloaded and installed the QNX4.25D patch. During the installation, we selected the "Security Patch". The installation went fine, but after re-booting the system we can't login as root anymore. What should we do now?

| Solution |
Change /etc/passwd and remove the "*" to indicate that the password is not needed, then alt-boot by hitting ESC during the boot. Login as 'root' and run 'passwd' to set a new passwd.
However, if the boot procedure is to go through the Photon graphical login, the Photon security patches will also have to be installed.These patches can be found on the upgrade CD.
Note: If the Watcom C/C++ compiler and/or TCP/IP is installed, the security patches for these products will also have to be installed. |
